About the Author
Thuken Losang Chokyi Nyima (1737-1802) was among the most cosmopolitan and prolific Tibetan Buddhist masters of the late eighteenth century. Hailing from the "melting pot" region of Amdo, he was Mongol by heritage, and educated in Gelukpa monasteries. Throughout his life, he traveled widely in east and inner Asia, spending significant time in Central Tibet, Amdo, inner Mongolia, and at the Qing court in Beijing. He served as abbot of several important monasteries, and wrote hundreds of texts on Buddhist thought and practice, the most enduring and influential of which is the Crystal Mirror of Philosophical Systems.

Born in the Tsang region of Tibet in 1923, Geshe Lhundub Sopa is both a spiritual master and a respected academic. He rose from a humble background to complete his geshe studies at Sera Je Monastic University in Lhasa with highest honors and was privileged to serve as a debate opponent for the Dalai Lama's own geshe examination in 1959. He moved to New Jersey in the United States in 1963 and in 1967 began teaching in the Buddhist Studies Program at University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he is now professor emeritus. In 1975, he founded the Deer Park Buddhist Center in Oregon, Wisconsin, site of the Dalai Lama's first Kalachakra initiation granted in the West. He is the author of several books in English, including the five-volume comprehensive teaching, Steps on the Path to Englightenment.

Roger R. Jackson is the John W. Nason Professor of Asian Studies and Religion at Carleton College in Minnesota, where he teaches the religions of South Asia and Tibet. He has published many articles on the philosophy, ritual, meditative practices, and poetry of Indian and Tibetan Buddhism, and has written or co-edited several books, including Is Enlightenment Possible?, Tibetan Literature, Buddhist Theology, Tantric Treasures, and Mahamudra and the Bka' brgyud Tradition. He is a past editor of the Journal of the International Association of Buddhist Studies, and is currently co-editor of the Indian International Journal of Buddhist Studies.

There are different methods of trading/investing in the stock market. There's value investing (like Warren Buffet), there's day trading, swing trading, and then there's growth investing. This book is about growth investing. That is, investing in companies that show exceptional earnings and sales growth (which are the things that affect a stock's price during a bull market cycle). It's not better or worse than the others. But thanks to Bill O'Neill and his Investor's Business Daily service, it is easier to learn.This is because IBD (the newspaper/service accompanying this strategy) does half the work for you. The book will tell you to look for companies with a certain amount of earnings growth by quarter, for example, and that sounds like a lot of work--and normally, it would be. But if you pay the $10 per month, or whatever it is, for the paper, all of that stuff is done for you. The data is available for any stock in the market, and you're given a list of the top 50 stocks that meet the criteria listed in the book.But as I said, that's only half the work. Knowing which stocks to buy is easy (thanks to this strategy), but knowing when to buy them and when to sell them is the hard part. The book goes into detail on that. It involves looking for certain patterns in the price charts (also available through their service), and then buying if the price goes above a certain level. Then there are also rules on when to sell.It's a rules-based system, which is good because it gives you a set of criteria by which to buy and sell stocks, but there is room for flexibility (depending on your abilities as a technical analyst and/or your knowledge of a particular company) which is going to make or break you as a stock trader.I should finish this review, though, by saying that most traders lose money in stocks. Unless you're so obsessed with stocks that you're willing to put in thousands of hours (just like any highly competitive skill) before you are successful, I'd recommend just buying a mutual fund instead. It's a lot less hassle, and unless you become an elite trader, your returns will likely be comparable over a long enough period of time.If there is any negative that I have to say about this book, it's that it says nothing about what I believe is the most difficult part about trading. The psychological aspect. I would reference Mark Douglas for that.

This is the first review I have ever written on Amazon; this book is that incredible. The book lays out exactly what most successful stocks have done to be successful and when to buy that stock before it shoots up. The basic premise of the book is to buy companies that have demonstrated certain chart patterns (the patterns explained in the book) and have solid fundamentals.So far, in only 3 months of investing with his strategy, I have made 15% returns on my investments. Before I read this, I had to wait at least a year or two before making that kind of money. However, he does solicit his website throughout the book. At first, I was skeptical of someone trying to sell financial advice (everyone seems to solicit you for market advice nowadays), but I decided to give his website a try. Ends up, they give you a month trial for free, and it costs $30 per month after the trial. With the amount of money I have made from this book, the $30 a month is a drop in the bucket of my profits.To provide concrete examples, his website told me to look for Winnebago (WGO) in August-September 2017, YY Inc.'s (YY) incredible 25% shoot up after their amazing quarter in November 2017, and Square's (SQ) ungodly skyrocket in November 2017. Those are but some of the success stories I would never have found had I simply read he book and tried to do the analysis that the website provides for you. I strongly recommend reading the book and paying the monthly membership for the website. I have not regretted it at all.

I took the time to study this as if it were college coursework - taking notes, making summaries, and referencing it back over and over again until I was confident that I understood the concepts. About the Author
Roland Case is the executive director of the Critical Thinking Consortium (TC2) a non-profit association of school districts and educational organizations across Canada. He is a retired professor of social studies education at Simon Fraser University in British Columbia. Roland has edited or authored over 100 published works. Notable among these is the award-winning series of TC2 teaching resources entitled Critical Challenges Across the Curriculum. In addition to his public school and university teaching, Roland has worked with over 18,000 educators across Canada and in the United States, England, Israel, Russia, India, Finland, and Hong Kong to support the infusion of critical thinking. Roland was the 2006 recipient of the Distinguished Academics Career Achievement Award from the Confederation of University Faculty Associations of BC (CUFA). Penney Clark is a professor in the Department of Curriculum and Pedagogy at the University of British Columbia and the director of the History Education Network/Histoire et éducation en réseau (THEN/HiER). She was awarded the Killam Teaching Prize in 2005 for her teaching of social studies curriculum and instruction, the history of curriculum, and the politics of curriculum development courses at UBC. She co-authored three Canadian history textbooks and has published articles in the Journal of Canadian Studies, Canadian Journal of Education, American Journal of Education, History of Education Quarterly, and Theory and Research in Social Education. Iâ€™m still reeling at the ending from this book. Like Paper Princess, Broken Prince is a compelling read from start-to-finish. Itâ€™s easily read in one sitting. The difference with this book is that weâ€™re introduced to Reedâ€™s POV as well. So, the story is told in alternating POVs. The book starts out a little before the end of book one, from Reedâ€™s perspective. Weâ€™re left wondering where Ella has fled to, but weâ€™re given deeper insight as to the very important question â€“ what was Brooke even doing in Reedâ€™s room in the first place?We can see that Ella running out on the Royals has created some friction in the family dynamic and it tears them apart. Everyone at school sees it, but the Royals are mostly freezing Reed out because they know heâ€™s why Ella left. When Ella does get dragged back into their lives, she feels lied to and canâ€™t forgive Reed for what sheâ€™s witnessed.If I thought the first book had little in way of plot, this somehow hadâ€¦less. In a way, itâ€™s just a will they/wonâ€™t they question about Ella and Reed getting back together. The kids at school are just as awful to Ella, if not worse. There are ramifications for Danielâ€™s very existence, the guy who tried to date rape Ella in Paper Princess. Brooke is playing games with the family and twisting everyone around her little finger. Iâ€™m still not sure what to make of Val and Tam or if thatâ€™s just a weak storyline since we never see him. Itâ€™s just all in the periphery of Ellaâ€™s POV, so thereâ€™s really not much to know there besides, yay, Val has her own life and used to be seeing someone? I also wonder about Sawyer, Sebastian, and Laurenâ€™s situation, but none of the characters seem to know either.Seeing things from Reedâ€™s perspective was definitely interesting. It did creep me out somewhat to how possessive and pushy he is at times trying to get back with Ella. But then he also came across as caring and enduring other times trying to win her back. Itâ€™s all very confusing and I still donâ€™t know where I stand with Reed. Does he just come off as predatory? Ellaâ€™s a smart girl, but the way sheâ€™s written is just making me feel torn about that whole thing. Sheâ€™s seen her mom fall into bad relationships over and over again, and knows that Reed seems to be another one of those guys for her, but then sheâ€™s gives into him time and time again. Maybe itâ€™s the writing, but itâ€™s not really making me side with Ella at all or making me ship her and Reed together.I donâ€™t really know what to make of Broken Prince except that it was a quick read with another cliffhanger ending. It was enjoyable even though it didnâ€™t quite have me by the edge of my seat flipping through the pages like the first book. Thereâ€™s some nice heart-to-heart moments between some of the characters that I liked reading about and finally knowing that Callum isnâ€™t a complete pushover. I will read Twisted Palace just to see how this series will end, but itâ€™s already been a wild ride.

Yesssss! Broken Prince was so incredible good, it's the dirty little book soap opera that you never knew you needed. It's wild, sexy, shocking... it's ya and it is a contemporary book that even non-contemporary readers will love.Broken Prince is the second book in the Royals series and this book didn't hit the second book slump, this book was so amazingly good. This time the story is told from dual perspectives, readers get to hear from both Ella and Reed. The book starts off with the last scenes of Paper Princess but told from Reed's pov and it was amazing. Reed feels guilt as-hell about what Ella saw and he wants to explain but Ella is gone. During Ella's absence the Royals don't do so well and Reed is the most broken of them all. Ella left the Royals completely brokenhearted and wants nothing to do with Reed. Eventually she returns, things don't look good and it's Reed's chance to win her back.OMG! Broken Prince was so amazingly good, you have no idea. Reed is a totally mess and so are the rest of the Royals and I started to see how important Ella had become to their broken home. I will admit that I hated Reed in a good two-thirds of Paper Princess but by the end I liked him a little bit, now after Broken Prince, dude has me. Reed has transformed into such an amazing character, he did sort of a one-eighty. Reed maybe broken and a lot more was revealed about his past but he has grown and I got to see more of his personality in this story and it makes me feel for him. Reed is on his way to becoming a better person, some one Ella deserves.Ella was already a strong character but her strength grows even more and she chooses to count on some of the people around her when she actually needs the help. I love the fact that the privilege around her isn't changing her but she is changing them. I loved seeing how she had doubts about what she was doing with Reed that it wasn't just one-sided, she missed Reed but she also hated him and she let herself feel all of it. Ella became even more fierce in this book and I have a feeling she isn't done evolving yet.I really wished that I could get more of the twins, Sawyer and Sebastian, I need more of an idea of who they are. I feel that all the boys are important to the story and while we got a lot more of Gideon's past and an explanation of him and I see more into Easton's life but I need more and I hope they get a little more attention in the rest of the series.As of this book, I am totally addicted to the Royals series. Broken Prince was so much more than I thought it would be. The fact that Reed messed-up and was truly trying to fix his mistake. He was taking actual effort in showing that he cared about Ella and Ella was so emotional and it was so drama. However that wasn't even the start of it, the students of Astor Prep went completely savage, the crap that they did is beyond shocking. I couldn't believe what they got a way with, I know that you're thinking Gossip Girl but you should be thinking Lord of the Flies. Dude, I can't even. Still that's not all of it, more secrets come to light, a Royal is in danger and a few super-shocking plot twist leaves Broken Prince on an impossible cliffhanger. I can't wait to read the next book, I have no idea how it's gonna go because the authors can't be taking the story in the direction I think they are.

Much like the first book in the series, Broken Prince by Erin Watt left me feeling conflicted. Again, the technical aspects of the book were pretty spot-on. I didnâ€™t run into a lot of grammatical errors, typos, or formatting issues. The narrative was clean and easy to read, and it was simple to get sucked into the story because of itâ€”but the plotline and the characters were painful to experience. The romance between Ella and Reed felt so wrong because of the way theyâ€™d treated each other throughout the first book. Their relationship was unbelievably unhealthy.On some levels, this book was possibly worse than the first. Not a lot happened other than pure fluff drama thatâ€™s so ridiculously overblown that I couldnâ€™t help but roll my eyes. The content was far from being YA appropriate, and the characters left me disgustedâ€¦ and yet I kept reading. I guess I love drama.I want to like this series because Iâ€™m being entertained, but the entertainment value is like watching a reality show about the Trumps: itâ€™s gross and cringy, and completely unrelatableâ€”but you watch it anyway just to see whatâ€™ll happen. Overall, Iâ€™m not impressed with this series thus far, and I certainly wouldnâ€™t recommend it to a teen, but if you enjoy this kind of social abuse, drugs, sex, and scandal, you might find this entertaining.

I didn't enjoy the storyline of Broken Prince as much as I did Paper Princess. I was hoping Ella would date other people, maybe even Easten because I like them together better than Ella and Reed. The ending was just crazy, as if Reed never learned his lesson from book one. The kiss with Wade was perfect. I needed more of that. I didn't feel there was much of a story, more of a filler between book one and three but I finished it in a day.
